The Yukini Project is in the final stages of the Wauƞspe Hokṡikaġapi (Doll Lesson) Book 1. The concept of the curriculum shadows Conscious Discipline Baby Doll Circle Time, it focuses on helping children build their empathy for others through caregiver practicing (role modeling). The children will internalize Dakota Iapi through repetition by hearing and using it from the caregiver during circle time. The children will learn to say a few words from the following areas such as care taking, movement, colors, numbers. The project is to preserve the Dakota Language. Once final they will be delivered to the schools and early learning centers with the books and the Hokṡikaġapi (Dolls).
Each of the dolls have beaded moccasins, beaded hair ties with their traditional regalia made by our local artists in the community.
