MMWIR Walk "Say Their Name"

The MMWIR Walk took place Monday February 22nd, organizer Waynette Renville had originally set aside Valentines Dayas the date, but due to cold weather had picked this day. It was sunny and nearly 50 degrees as the walk started from the SWO Memorial Park to the Highway 10 BIA 700 intersection roundabout and back to the park. About 50 participants, and 6 vehicles made the memorial walk on a beautiful Monday afternoon.

The signs were of the loved ones that had been tragically taken were carried by family and friends as shouts rang out of "Say their Name", and in response the loved one names were shouted back. "I wanna say thank you to all who came to support & walk in support of the MMIWR event. Thank you to the too young men who came on a moment notice to sing to chairman Roly S. Hopkins Jr." said Organizer Renville on her Facebook post. SWO Itancan Delbert "Roly" Hopkins closed in prayer as all participants held hands, family members also spoke about their loved ones. Renville also spoke about next years event to be held around February 14th, 2022.
