Barry Jon LaCroix Sr., 43, of Sisseton, SD, passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on April 29, 2021.
Funeral Service for Barry Jon LaCroix Sr. 43, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Family Life Assembly of God Church, Sisseton, SD with Pastor Vern Donnell officiating. Music by Tim White, Joe White Jr. & Dawn Eagle's family. Pallbearers will be Justin White, Jordan "Whoop" Gill, Justin LaCroix, Spencer LaCroix Jr., Victor Kampeska, Tyson Brant Sr., Vern Red Owl, and Lionel DuMarce. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bessie Janisch, Dora Brown, Dustin Spider, Dawn Ryan, David Williams, Terry "Chub" Spider, Marshall Augustine, Spencer LaCroix Sr., Jarred "Doughboy" Hisgun, Chester Wilson, Paul Joseph White, Chuck Backman, Gordon Opantz, Isaac Lucero, Joseph "Sonny" LaCroix Jr., Rick and Cheryl Ojeda, Richard Varns Jr., and all of Barry's nieces, nephews and friends, Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD with military rites by Kit Fox Society. Wake services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. and an all-night Wake on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 starting at 7:00 P.M. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Hall, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Barry Jon LaCroix was born on January 9, 1978 in Sisseton SD to Barbara (White) & Joseph LaCroix Sr. He attended high school at Tiospa Zina Tribal School. Right after High School Barry joined the Army Air Defense in 1996. He did basic training in Ft. Sill, OK and went on to his assignment in Ft. Hood, TX. His first marriage was to Mandy (Trevino) Grimmer in 1996. He resided in Aberdeen, SD; Sisseton, SD; St. Cloud, MN; Brookings, SD and Enemy Swim, SD.
He worked in Brookings, SD; B&B Construction in Brookings, SD; Dakota Magic Casino & Hotel in Hankinson, ND and Rosholt Care Center in Rosholt SD. Barry grew up in the Dakota Gospel Church with his family and extended family, Pastor Beasley, Carol & children. Barry enjoyed hanging out with his children, family & friends. He enjoyed playing games on his PS4, watching movies, listening to music and going for drives. Barry Jon LaCroix Sr., 43years old. Sisseton SD passed away on April 29, 2021 in Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by his family.
Barry is survived by Shannon Keoke of Sisseton SD; his parents: Barbara & Joe LaCroix Sr. of Sisseton SD; his children: Duron LaCroix of Lake Traverse SD, Devin, Barry Jr. (Bugsy) and Lorenzo LaCroix of Sisseton SD, LeeRay Keoke, Todd Keoke, Gabe Keoke, Jayden Keoke; Sisters: Bobbi DuMarce of Sisseton SS, Pejihota Lucero (Isaac Lucero) of Farmington NM, and Doralynn LaCroix of Bismarck ND, Marita White of Wagner, SD; Brothers, Joseph "Sonny" LaCroix Jr. of Sisseton, SD, Spencer LaCroix Sr. of Sisseton, SD, and Byron White, Jr. of Sisseton SD. Nephews: Gordon, Jeff & Jesse Opatz of Brookings & Sioux Falls SD, Garett DuMarce of Brookings SD, Lionel DuMarce of Farmington NM, Anthoney Janisch of Sisseton SD, Spencer LaCroix, Jr. of Sioux Falls SD, Avante LaCroix of Sisseton SD, Aaron & Avery Finley of Sisseton, SD and Glenn Dumarce of Sisseton, SD; Nieces: Alexis DuMarce of Texas, Sherielle Dirtseller, Alpha Dumarce, Mary Krpan and Shalyn LaCroix all of Watertown SD, and Michelle Roberts of Sisseton, SD; grandkids, Zailee, Lainee, Vylette, Drayven, Eddie, Bryce, Yzhara, Vincent "Tiny Pedro", Wahcazi Win, Hupa Win, Chandler Jr., Iveeana, Luca, Michael, Isaiah, Baby Bella, Wapi, Noah, Jonathan, Julian, Rain, and Monte, Joe and Kathy White and Emery and Rosemary White; also survived by all of his friends & family.
Barry was preceded in death by his sister, Bella DuMarce-Peterson, LaVerne "baby" White, Jr., grandparents: Mary & Francis White Sr., Dora LaCroix & Duane Stanky, and nieces Ashlee LaFromboise and Jacquelyn LaCroix.
The family would like to thank the Roberts County first responders; and all of the doctors and nurses at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD and Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD who did their very best to take care of our beloved son, father, husband, brother, uncle and cousin.
