Youth Fishing Tournament kicks off on Mother's Day
The first youth fishing tournament of the summer was held on Mothers Day to celebrate.
The tournament was held at the Old Agency Dam. 62 kids registered and 35 fish were measured for
placing. Fishing pole setup and how to clean your fish demonstrations were provided by the SWO Fish
and Wildlife crew.
The Tournament Categories were: Biggest Walleye, Northern, Bullhead, Panfish. There were also prizes
for tagged fish.
The winners of the tournament were:
Northern Category:
1st Place Mattison Keoke
2nd Place Carmello Renville
3rd Place Forest Adams
Bullhead Category:
Tied for 1st Place Brayden Price and Alexis DeCoteau
2nd place Adrian Price
3rd Place Skylar Keoke
There were no fish caught in the walleye and panfish tournament and no tagged fish were caught. (yet)
The tagged fish will still get a prize if caught. The tag can be taken to the SWO fish and wildlife dept.
The Old Agency dam is maintained by fish and wildlife crew. It is a family friendly fishing spot with grills,
benches and canopy for gatherings. Families are encouraged to fish there.
Chance prize drawings were given throughout the tournament. Lunch was provided as well as a
Mothers Day Cake! This gathering is a green friendly event with minimal trash so it is environmentally
friendly. All participants are asked to bring water bottles. Coolers of water are provided.
The tournament was a great success with much thanks to the SWO Fish and Wildlife Crew! The Youth
Department Crew! And the Nis'to Inc Crew!
The next tournament will be held on Fathers Day at Red Iron Lake.
