Funeral Mass for Mary Ann Wanna, Hihaŋ Wiŋyan, Owl Woman, 84, of Agency Village, SD will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Fr. Gregg Frankman Celebrant. The Pianist will be Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be Eric Wanna, Justin White, Tyson Brant, Gabriel DuMarce, Jay Renville, James Robertson, Devin DuMarce, Benji Thompson, Winfield Thompson Jr. and Damian White, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bonnie Thompson, Wanda Thompson, Nancy Freemont, Marie Renville, Charlene Wanna, Joann His Gun, Brenda Jones, Mary Hill, Sheri Armell, Cheryl Spider, Wanda Varns, Lauren White, Daniel Cloud and Kobe White. There will be all night wakes on Sunday, May 23, 2021 and Monday, May 24, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Kateri's Tekakwitha Hall, Sisseton, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangement.

Mary Ann was born November 24, 1936 in Veblen, SD to James Wanna and Nora Greeley-Wanna. She attended Flandreau Indian School. In her earlier years she lived in Chicago, Ill and Minneapolis, MN until eventually moving to Park Rapid, MN where she lived for many years until she moved home to Sisseton. Mary Ann did many jobs that included farming, truck driving and nursing homes. Mary Ann loved to travel, fish, do puzzles, being outside, star watching, going to rummages sales. She loved to dress up doing her nails, playing dice, and most of all to visit and laugh with our family. Mary Ann passed away on May 21, 2021 at the Tekakwitha Nursing Home surrounded by her family.

Mary Ann is survived by her children Emery (Sharon) White, Jr., Tamara (Ronald) DuMarce, Allen (Lauren) White, John Adams, Sam Adams and Jason Adams all of Sisseton, SD and Della Adams of Seattle, WA; thirty one grandkid, 105 great grandkids, and six great-great grandkids and also many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nora Wanna; 4 brothers, Spencer Wanna, Anthony Wanna, Benedict Wanna and Lawrence Wanna; 6 sisters, Alma Renville, Mamie Robertson, Beatrice Wanna, Melvina LaBatte, Dorothy Freemont, and Bernice Wanna; 2 children Sonia Morales and Lawrence White; 4 grandchildren., Jarrod DuMarce, Stacy Brant Jr., Angela Adams and Tyson Brant, Jr.
