The Veterans Memorial Youth Center and SWO Youth Lodge programs have been attending staff development trainings all month. Here is a list of all trainings completed by staff:

 Mandated Reporting training (provided by Child protection program) New ideas: (Pending approval)

 Enclosed trailer for mobile entertainment

 New tables and chairs for building

 Mayou electrical hookup for computer systems

 HVAC system still being worked on Youth Lodge

Mission Statement: The Youth Lodge will foster positive youth development among Sisseton Wahpeton Youth through traditional cultural teachings, connectedness and a holistic health.

SAMHSA Report:

Update personnel Brandi DeCoteau moved to Sioux Falls discussed with project officer the changes we will be making.

Goals: Meeting with Mickey from CPS today to finalize plans for collaboration for goals

TO DATE: we are still in good standing with SAMHSA

To Do List:

 Policies first draft has been completed

 Move trailer

o We are waiting on approval from Secretary on the MOA between the youth department and SWHA to submit for SAMHSA

o Update 2: we received the metes and boundaries for the lodge site.

 Barrier: we were given 3 names from Sisseton Wahpeton Housing to obtain quotes for the ICF foundation. 1 person called back and said he was a 1 man show, 1 did not return my call so we went with Chris Pallesen to provide a quote for putting in the ICF materials for the trailer to moved onto and also for the 30 x 30 addition

 Obtained estimate to complete the addition project

 Barrier: with covid and with the Youth Department not having received the budget we did not have funds to begin work on anything

 We are going over the job descriptions so we are ready to begin hiring staff: Specifically the teaching position, our goal is to support our families with tutoring by appointment and by with a school referral. Youth worker/culture staff: we would like to develop the components for the lodge. Youth worker to get support culture personnel and teaching personnel until the lodge is open.

o Update: Job descriptions are complete and we are waiting for final budget approval

o JUNE UDPATE with have hired both fenale and male culture mentors, 1 FT youth worker, Other jobs will be advertised,

 We finally were able to meet with Finance, COVID sure has affected our progress and staff turnover, we met with Ramona and our bookkeeper to go over our budget. We are waiting for the final line item number assignments. Then we can begin advertising the positions

o Update: we still haven’t received the final budget

o JUNE UPDATE: meeting with Myrna to discuss budget

 We are waiting for sub award approval for Tracey

o Update: Tracey’s sub award was approved

o Update we received final budgets from finance on May 25

o JUNE UPDATE finance submitted wrong codes for payment Derrick is working with

Finance to get this updated

Next Steps:

ICF work has been approved by housing

Dates will get put in place to move the trailer

Hire staff
