Larry Dean Nerison October 10, 1945 - March 28, 2022

Funeral Service for Larry Dean Nerison, Wakiyan Ho Tonka Wicasta, 76, of Watertown, SD will be held on March 31, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Hall, Sisseton, SD with CRE Gerald "Jr." Heminger officiating. Pallbearers will be Taymin Pacheco, Christian Pacheco, Shane DuMarce, Harlan DuMarce, Terry Larson and Alan Bohn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roman Derby, Ernie Rendon, John Eagle, Thomas (Hammie) Marks, Marshall Goodsell, F. Clayton Tyler, Mandel Yankton, Winston Eastman, Hazen DuMarce II, Tim LaBatte and Jakobe DuMarce. Drum Group will be Old Agency Singers. There will be an all-night Wake Service on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 8:00 P.M St. Kateri Tekakwitha Hall with Vicar Pat Schubert officiating. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Dean Nerison was born in Sisseton to Verle (Derby) Nerison and Arthur R. Nerison. They lived in and around the area, most of his life. Younger years he hitched hiked all around the west coast. He lived a lot of his life in Minneapolis where he was a bouncer in several bars. He also went to Trade School down there for Art and Auto Mechanic's. He loved The Blues and all kinds of music. He loved cars, sports especially football (Vikings), boxing and pool. He loved family and friends. He also loved reminiscing of his life; favorite sayings were "That's Life" and" My opinion". He was very outspoken. He wrote in the Sota and Lakota Times numerous times to place his opinion. Great Sense of humor. Your memory will live with us forever! He moved home and worked as a certified water treatment operator until retiring to be Conservator for his son. Larry passed away on March 28, 2022 at Ava's House, Sioux Falls, SD.

Larry is survived by his wife Patricia of 32 years; his sons Dean L. Brooks Nerison, Shakopee, MN, Emery Kegg Nerison, Minneapolis, MN; one daughter Kateri DuMarce, Sisseton, SD; three stepchildren Heather Hill, Sisseton, SD, Candice Hill, Watertown, SD, and Shane DuMarce, Watertown, SD; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brothers John Derby, Sioux Falls, SD, Martin Nerison, Sisseton, SD, Dennis Nerison, Moorhead, MN, John Nerison, New Effington, SD, Donnie Nerison and Robert Nerison; sisters Elaine Anderson, Cincinnati, Ohio, Peggy Nerison, Flandreau, SD, Shari Nerison, Omaha, NE and Cheryl Nerison, Detroit, MI; one uncle Roman Derby, Peever, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one son Larry Dean II; brothers Richard Nerison, Frankie Nerison, and Patrick Nerison; and one sister Shirley Zilke.
