Special Sisseton School Board Meeting

March 21, 20225:30 p.m.

The School Board of the Sisseton School District 54-2 met in special session on Monday, March 21, 2022 at5:30 p.m., in the Sisseton High School library.

Members present: W. Rice, L. Wegener, C. Deutsch, J. Eastman, J. Even-son, W. Hawkins, S. Johnson and J. Schaunaman.

Member absent: S. Stickland. Others in attendance: Dr. Tammy Meyer, Rodney Freeman, Dawn Hoeke, Mother of Student A, Father of Student A, Grandmother of Student A, Grand-mother of Student A, Friend of Family of Student A.

Pres. Rice called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Supt. Meyer requested to amend the agenda to add Executive Session(SDCL 1-25-2 (1) ), Personnel. ACTION NO: 3334 A motion was made by J. Schaunaman and seconded by S. Johnson to approve the agenda with the amendment as presented. All members present voting aye, the motion carried.

ACTION NO: 3335 A motion was made by S. Johnson and seconded by L. Wegener to move into executive session at 5:32 p.m. to discuss Student matters – Due Process Hearing (SDCL1-25-2 (2) ). All members present voting aye, the motion carried.

The regular meeting was resumed at6:56 p.m.

ACTION NO: 3336 A motion was made by C. Deutsch and seconded by S. Johnson to suspend student A for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year for disruptive conduct in violation of school rules and state laws. W.Hawkins voting nay, all other members present voting aye, the motion carried.

ACTION NO: 3337 A motion was made by C. Deutsch and seconded byS. Johnson to move into executive session at 6:58 p.m. to discuss Personnel (SDCL 1-25-2 (1) ). All members pres-ent voting aye, the motion carried.

The regular meeting was resumed at7:10 p.m.

ACTION NO: 3338 A motion was made by J. Evenson and seconded by S.Johnson to approve the resignation of Curt Littau as Activities Director for2022-23. All members present voting aye, the motion carried.

ACTION NO:3339 A motion was made by L. Wegener and seconded by J. Schaunaman to adjourn the meeting at 7:11 p.m. All members present voting aye, the motion carried.
